There has been a lot of news about Vendee Globe races, especially about how several experienced sailors have been braving the solo expeditions that they are one in this kind of race. Indeed, this race includes a 25000 nautical mile tour around the world.

Started from France, this year it was flagged off on November 6th from Les Sables d’Olonne in France. It is described as one of the hardest sailing expeditions of the world, though it is a famous one as well.

Royal Yacht Squadron’s Solent Summer Celebration


Entries for the Royal Yacht Squadron’s Solent Summer celebration of 200 years, the RYS International Bicentenary Regatta have been successful in reaching sixty and are still counting as entries are on their ways to continue to arrive on a regular basis. A much hoped for fourth J-class yacht Rainbow has just confirmed that she will be joining the other three that include Lionheart, Velsheda and Ranger for highly anticipated Solent spectacular.

Some more additions that confirm their lining up on the start line of seven day regatta, commencing from 25th July include the William Fife Design Mariquita that is widely considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful classic yachts in terms of sailing. Built in 1911 and restored to complete glory in 2003, Mariquita once again reflects herself to be a serious contender into a packed European racing program in recent years.

Sailing Program at Marianas Yacht Club


Yacht clubs are known to hold educational programs from time to time and a recent inclusion was the sailing program that was organized by Marianas Yacht Club.

The program aimed to introduce the sailing sport to the local community as well as create the foundation for a youth sailing program to start off. The program was for five weeks and had many pros like Justin Roland being part of the program.

Hinckley takes on Morris Yachts


Two local well known yacht developers are collaborating in a purchase deal, announced on Tuesday. Hinckley Yachts suggested in a written statement that it has taken on Morris Yachts. But, the terms and conditions of the sale were not revealed.

As per the statement, Hinckley acquired Morris Yachts assets on 1st January, Friday. Hinckley suggested that it has plans to carry on using the Morris brand as it engulfs Morris’ boat-building as well as service operations in the eastern Maine.

In the release, Hinckley said that both the companies made fine quality yachts within a quarter mile of each other in Trenton, in Maine. With the new placement, about 380 craftsmen, technicians and engineers would offer a deep pool of talent for the building of world-class yachts.

Hinckley Yachts, established in Southwest Harbor in the year 1928, makes luxury sailing as well as power yachts. In the past 88 years since that time, the company has fleshed out to include facilities in Maryland, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Rhode Island and New Jersey.
